Real Men are in Scarce Supply

Note:  Thanks to Kathleen Parker for evoking the following rant.

Real men seek real women; women who insist on a ceremony of marriage before engaging in an act of marriage.

Real men don't allow their wives and daughters to go out in public dressed like prostitutes.

Real men have one mother for their children rather than spreading their "seed" through as many sexual conquests as they can accomplish.

Real men give their children time and attention as well as money.

Real men are the product of being with real women.  Women need to raise their standards and insist that men meet that high standard.

Women, step up!  Men, follow God; don't follow your raging testosterone!

Racism in the Democratic Party?

There's a new group in the coalition of groups that comprise the Democratic Party.
The Democratic Party has always been a coalition of various self-interested groups and lobbies:

The union group
The feminist group
The black group
The hispanic group
The gay group
The environmental group
The animal rights group
The anti-war group, etc., etc., etc.

Each of these groups demanded a seat at the Party table and the Democrats obliged.  They not only gave lip service to each group's cause - they even embraced and applauded each group's cause.

The Hillary/Obama debacle has introduced another group.  This group has never been embraced or applauded.  In fact, this group has never even been acknowledged until this primary.  This group?

The racist group.

There are many Democrats who refuse to vote for a black candidate.  They are withholding Obama's nomination from him because he is black.  If Hillary wins the nomination, the racist group will quietly show the black group to the back door of the modern, racist, Democratic Party.

Would an atheist cry?

President Bush just awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously to Michael Monsoor. The President (a devout Christian) cried openly as the account of the heroic Navy Seal's falling on a grenade to save his comrades, was read. It was Michael Monsoor's final act of bravery as he died from his wounds thirty minutes later.

If an atheist were the President, would he have cried? I believe President Bush was overcome with emotion because of his abiding faith and the tremendous weight of accountability he has, before God, as Commander-in-Chief.

A true atheist would surely have sat emotionless through such a ceremony. What's the point of getting all emotional about the untimely death of a higher form of mammal? I appreciate and enjoy the intellect and prose of Christopher Hitchens. I know that he has expressed deep feelings for certain of the war-dead in Iraq with whom he had personal contact. So I know my characterization of atheists is not entirely accurate.

The fact is, most atheists are not God-deniers, they are God-haters. And their world-view disqualifies them to lead a Christian nation.

The myth of Bush's "failed" presidency

I scoff, gag, wretch at the notion that Bush's is a "failed" presidency. After I have completed my esophageal spasms, I always come back to one question:

Would I rather have had John Kerry? Al Gore? The very thought makes me scoff, gag, wretch...

My Divorce - from the Democratic Party

I have been an independent all my life.  I always thought the person mattered more than the Party.  Then along came Reagan.

Ronald Reagan showed me that I was only half right.  His Presidency revealed the power of his ideas; it also revealed the true character of the Democratic Party.

The opposition party's irrational hatred of Reagan made me ashamed I had ever voted for a Democrat.  Their evolution into a party promoting abortion and insistent on tax increases drove me even further away from them.

The left wing has taken over a once-great-Democratic-party.  The left wing has now taken over the Republican Party.

I'm still an independent, but my divorce from the Democrats is final.  When the election comes in November, I will feel like the Republicans and I have separated and I am joining them for a court-ordered visitation.  I will be cordial, but I will want them to know I won't be voting for the Republicans - I'll be voting against the Democrats.

The Gift

The greatest gift we can give is ourselves - or something that represents who we are. Since few of us have a lot of money, ANY amount we give is often a sacrifice. Since few of us have a lot of time on our hands, ANY time we give is often a sacrifice.

But there are many among us, rich and poor alike, who are being deprived of the greatest gift of all. They know nothing of that babe in the manger, Who He was, what He did, Who He is now.

If you know Him, the greatest gift and greatest act of compassion is sharing that knowledge with someone who doesn't know. That is a gift that will keep on giving for eternity.

Giving of yourself is the greatest gift of all. God set the example in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He GAVE his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should have everlasting life."

Merry Chrismas!

Chris HITCHENS is NOT Great; But is God Conservative?

God is not conservative; He is not political. Characterizing this as a position of conservatives-of-faith is a straw-man. But try this for an interesting thought exercise:

IF God were a citizen of our country and was registered to vote, who would He vote for?

First of all He WOULD register and vote. He takes personal responsibility VERY seriously. But who would He vote for? Since He created life and considers EACH human life precious, He would be forced to vote Republican.

He might "hold His nose" to do it (IF He had a nose; God is a Spirit, after all), but His devotion to life would dictate His vote. He is a very serious and somber and just Individual, so He would NOT cast a "joke" vote for a frivolous third party.

I hope God joins me in my wish that the Democrat Party would reverse its position on abortion. I would like to "come home" to the Party of my youth. Sadly, that appears to be unlikely outside of a miracle... oh, God?...
